question regarding c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
by Gregtheman10 - 8/3/10 7:37 PM
When I turn on my computer running windows XP, I recieve the following message:
STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.
Since I have the XP CD that came with my computer, I plan to use this link: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=307545 to help fix this problem. I was just wondering, would any of my personal information (photos, documents, etc.) be deleted after this process? Is so, how would I go about backing up this data?
