Windows XP forum: Antivirus Soft rogue anti-spyware & ransomware has me locked

Mark: I hope you get a lot of satisfaction helping other folks like me. It is often said in the forums that many of us out here are older and untrained just trying to get by and learn a little bit about computers. Most of the time it is fun trial and error but sometimes it is not so much fun when we get in a ditch. CNET.COM and helpers like you are very much appreciated. With your guidance and patience I got out of the ditch. Had to do malwarebytes download in safe mode and run it in safe mode but it worked. I didn't exactly know what I was doing in safe mode but you provided the guidance and directions.

I accidentally surfed onto a bad website(porn). My AVG warned me about it, but I wasn't quick enough. I nearly freaked out because EVERYTHING got locked unless I shelled our 49$ for their "Antivirus,Anti-spyware junk----Even my AVG anti-virus couldn't start. I was preparing to wipe out my hard drive and start all over again, losing all of my good stuff. Luckily the clowns that did this weren't very savvy. They were hoping that I would simply send them the money out of panic, but, not having any money, I merely rebooted---and it cleared up the problem!!

I wasn't simply cruising the web for porn! This month is "Donna Reed Month" pm TCM, wherin they play all of this wonderful actress's movies. So I decided to locate some of her old photo shoots to donwnload onto my desktop for my ( and also my wife's) pleasure. Unfortunately, some of those photo shoots were topless and were on a "semi-porn" web site! For the record, Donna had very tiny, but pretty breasts---almost impossible to find in today's plastic surgery crazy Hollywood. Anyway, avoid any sites that Google says are "Donna Reed topless photos".
