Everything turned Read-Only, can't change it back!

Hello. I recently encountered a problem and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3. I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but it seems every folder in my computer, except drive C, has turned read-only. When I right-click one of them, for example my desktop folder, and turn off the read-only checkbox it looks like it worked, but if I right click it right after that it shows read-only on again. There seems no conventional way to disable read-only in any of my folders.
I can't save files on my desktop, my documents, etc., just directly on drive C. And sadly, I couldn't find any information about it. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
