Window's Wizard writer/eraser cannot erase disk.

Hello All: burned files onto a dvd+rw disk with a DVR using Linux 2.6 OS. The files were decompressed .h264 to .avi with a converter & copied into my windows media player 11 program. All Ok. However, the source disk can only be read. No file delete,rename or disk format/erasing allowed. The DVR's program does not provide for disk format. Is there any way to format this disk. Running windows 2000 xp sp3 with a Teac DV-w58e DVD+rw writer. Thanks

I used IMGBURN and CDBURNERXP to work where other things didn't. If these don't work then test the erase on new media and other drives.

Be sure to know that most owners will not accept their DVDRW drive has died so be ready to demonstrate it working on another machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. Odd thing is that I burned the video clips that I converted on to a cd-rw. Had no problems erasing the disk in the Teac. Maybe the fact that the DVD+rw cannot be preformatted using windows before it is written with the Linus OS is locking out the Windows wizard. Guess I'll use DVD+/-R disks for my DVR backups in the future.

Erase, Pre-Format, etc.

Sorry but the tools I noted do not Pre-Format. Only erase.

There are some that use DVDRW media as a big ole floppy but I must be misunderstanding the goal here. I did experience trouble erasing with Nero, Roxio, others but wanted to share what I used on both Windows XP and 2000 to ERASE my DVDRW media.
