Windows XP forum: Need help! I lost my Windows XP admin password

The Motherboard(Bios) Settings Are One Thing, The Operating System Settings Are Another, And Their Problems Must Be Addressed Differently.

There is a registry change I did a long time ago to avoid (bypassing) the logon screen altogether, but I misplaced the info on the registry hack. Due to a Microsoft update, it the system went back to the original logon screen.

What small registry change (to a zero(0)) must be done to avoid logging on altogether?

You have lost or forgetten the XP administrator password, first reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up.
Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes.
You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.
Just click the administrators user account, and then click Reset Password.
You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.

I forgot my system password. When my computer is turned on
ASAP it asks for a password and not even Dell could help
with there so called reset. I took the harddrive out and
took it to a company and they couldn't even get past it.

So I toss my laptop harddrive in the trash? I'm a very low
income maker and can't afford $$$$$

well, there is a way of removing the password and resetting it,but it comes with a price:

You will lose access to its encrypted files, e‑mail messages that are encrypted, and stored passwords for websites or network resources!

If you don't mind/don't have any encrypted stuff, then this should work.

1. restart your PC, when the first screen(before windows loads!) comes, immediately hit the F8 key repeatedly on your keyboard
2. Windows Advanced boot options will appear, use the keyboard and select Safe Mode.
3.Let it start, then log int the Administrator account(not the one with the forgotten password)
4. when the system restore warning dialog box appears, click no(dont use system restore)
5.go to start>control panel>user accounts> click the user accounts icon in the "pick a control panel icon" area
6.go to the account with the forgotten password and click the remove password button
7.follow the on screen instructions, the once you're don restart the PC and let it start windows normally.

Hi: My DVD Ram disc is not able to record anything on it. Only playback but I now have nothing on it to play back.
Disc Information:
Disc Type - DVD RAM
Writing Mode - VR Mode
Originals Titles - 0
Playlist Titles - 0
Disc Status - PROTECTED
Disk Lock - Lock Off
Finalize -
Increment Rec - IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have already tried everything - even a Physical Format!!!
Guess I have to put this Disc in the garbage?
