USB card reader not working with XP x64

I have a generic usb sd card reader. I have been running the 32-bit version of XP but have added the 64-bit (dual boot). The card reader works fine when I boot the 32-bit version but not when I boot the 64-bit version. The card reader does show up in the device manager but It does not show as a "drive" in "My Computer". Also I do not get any pop up when I insert the reader. I also have a PNY memory stick and it works fine under both 32 and 64 bit OS. The motherboard is an ECS K8M890M-M. Is it the 64-bit OS or the MB drivers or ..... What should I look at to figure this out?
All other USB devices that I have seem to work fine in both 32 and 64 bit OS.
