Windows XP forum: Recycle Bin won't change back and forth from empty to full

but I would just say that changing 'System' icons has always been a little problematical in Windows.

Why not stay with what works?

I was just playing around wanting to mix up my desktop a little.

I downloaded some recycle bin icons from a site and then used Icon Tweaker to change them. That's it.

I'm going to change them back to the defaults and see if they start working again.

Ok....I just switched them back to the default and they work perfectly. HMMMM....

I don't see why changing them to a "non stock" icon would prevent seeing it full or empty. Still lookn for the answer

There is nothing wrong with your Windows and IconTweaker. (Well to be sure, there is something wrong with Windows: it's too fugly.)

I've also noticed that some icon packs tend to have a messed up recycle bin that won't refresh. But that is caused by the icon artist's own oversight. I have downloaded various beautiful icon packs that have dysfunctional recycle bins. What I do is replace the faulty icons with the ones that work. I find that IconTweaker also does not change/conform your DVD ROM icon to the one given by the theme. Those icons you may also replace by going to Tool > Change Folder Icons.

I would recommend NuoveXT by Anthonium too, but too bad the recycle bins don't work. And no, you can't make them work manually by going into Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop tab. Like I said, it's the icon artist's problem. Shamka's icons usually don't have this problem.

And to the tools who don't ever think of improving their incredibly ugly Windows bargain basement UI, I can only extend my sympathies.
