xp slow shutdown

xp has slowed substancially recently without installing any new programs. 4M bytes of ram, etc

Without changing a thing on the one PC. All I need to do is to turn off the other PC I have a share connected to then I see the longer shutdown time.

There must be some hundred causes after this. I see nothing in your post to narrow it down. In other words, tell more.

4M bytes of RAM etc.

Not sure what that "etc" means. Can you fill us in?

Also, are you sure that the RAM is only 4MB? I wasn't aware that XP could run on such small RAM.
