WMP and Plug in devices

My WMP (v11) has strated toc crash whenever I plug a memory stick or my MP3 player.
I have loaded a Hotfix that's supposed to address this problem but it's still there.
Any ideas?

Since your machine is crashing you ask its maker to fix the issue.
For me, I use anything else as Microsoft seems to break WMP from time to time and consider issues like http://news.cnet.com/new-years-hangover-for-zune-users/ ending with no fix available.
It's a strange world. Return what doesn't work.

The problems is that it used to work - this is not a warranty issue. I or a windows update broke something.
We have plenty of 'it used to work' examples.

Microsoft issues patches, entire versions so you have choices. Make it a warranty issue, or when it works stop accepting changes. Then to accepts changes, clone your drive, accept changes and test.
I know your issue but so far the fixes have been to reload the OS, drivers and carefully install patches to find where it breaks.

OK fix solution out there - deleted DRM files & back to functionality. I agree with your sentiments but it was one of those cases where it was easier to live with the problem.

No make, modem, OS patch level, Error Message or what's in the Event Viewer after the crash. Until you supply fine detail the answers have to stick with reload the OS or make it a warranty issue.
