XP HAS NO SYSTEM RESTORE AND CANNOT TYPE IN DIALOG BOXES

by Martin B. - 1/9/09 8:19 PM

My system was running just fine until about a week ago and I cannot seem to figure out the problem or fix it myself. I hope someone is able to assist me.

Here's the details of my system:
Dell Optiplex GX 150, XP Pro Svc Pack 3, CA AntiVirus and access the internet through roadrunner.

I am not able to locate a system restore point, there's no calendar or previous date available. I realized I need to go to a system restore when I attempted to enter some info in a dialog box on a website. I can surf the web, but, cannot enter any information in any dialog boxes (ie: entering my acct # to check my credit union, cannot type a request in a google search box and actually, can't even access this site as I can't type in the dialog box (I'm using my old computer). This is actually the issue I need to resolve, but, assisting me with the system restore will be greatly appreciated.

I have run several system scan's in an attempt to locate a virus, thinking, that's the culprit, and the scans have found some threats...I've quarantined them but, it still doesn't fix my problem.

I, all of a sudden notice that I have Internet Explorer 7...don't recall loading that and am wondering if I've been attacked.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time. I hope I've included enough information for you to help diagnose the problem. I truly appreciate your help.

Sincerely,
Milissa
