How to increase the Minimum Virtual Memory in Windows XP?

Hi,

I've seen many threads re this, but most of them show how it's done in "Paging file size for selected drive" via Customizing the size for Initial & Maximum.
But even after modifying this, i still get the same Minimum allowed: of 2MB from the "Total paging file size for all drives" info.
How can i modify that Minimum allowed size?

Why bother?

Why bother? Why not just let XP manage the swap file and expand or shrink it as demand requires? There's no real performance benefit to be had from setting some minimum and maximum value, so why bang your head against the wall repeatedly trying to get things to work like you want?

Well, i have my minimum in 2MB, and i just need to increase it, since i cannot install a document reference program. Everytime i click the Setup icon/file, it always gives "This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run."
Any idea on how i can get around this problem?

That's a whole other issue, and has nothing to do with the minimum amount of virtual memory. There seems to be some kind of bug in the installer for that program. I'm guessing it's for a rather old program, so you might want to try using XP's compatibility mode while installing. Or look for an updated version of the program is a valid option as well.
