Windows XP forum: Very slow when I start xp

Very slow when I start xp

It takes 30min to start my desktop. When I click any button before that I have to wait for a long time. I checked it with virus, but there are none. I have Dell dimension DXP051 with Intel Pentium(R) D cpu 3.2 GHz and 3GB of Ram.

How can I reduce the start up time?

Sounds like startup programs . . .

All those programs that start when you power up will cause this. Google Codestuff Starter and install it. It will tell you what is starting and let you prevent it or delete it. Also, spyware and malware (not viruses) will cause this behavior. What anti-spyware program are you running?
