XP and "I'm the only user" issues.

Let me share that I get the tough ones for problems. One problem that I run into often enough is the machine which has all but one account (and its broken) or the lost Administrator PASSWORD.
1. "I'm the only user." Syndrome.
A few don't like Windows NT, 2000, XP and 2003's architecture for creating directories for each user and promptly go to work wot rip all that up. I don't have a problem with this, but remember you may lock yourself out of the system.
Others don't want a logon prompt (again a personal choice), but forget what the ADMINISTRATOR login is which makes a boot of the XP CD and repairs there impossible. Too often these people lose it all if they go to the usual repair shop. Most shops will just wipe it out and start over.
2. That pesky ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD.
Many (most?) XP owners never know about this one until its time to boot the XP CD and run a repair.
In closing:
-> Know your administrator password for that rainy day.
-> Have a backup administrator account for another way in if your account dies (the corrupt profile issue.)
