Desktop icons have blue box

This is not on my computer,and all I know is it's a "White Box" windows xp pro. All the icons name are in a blue box.Go here for a screen shot.http://i36.tinypic.com/m0lly.jpg

I've checked that.Anyway those seem to have a box around the whole icon.There is no check mark next to "Lock web items on desktop" ether.

badlungs, As the link shows did you checkmark 'use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop'? Also right click your desktop, choose Properties, under the Desktop tab click the Customize Desktop button, under the Web tab make sure that Everthing is unchecked, click OK/Apply/OK.

Yes there is a check mark for "use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop". Nothing was checked under the web tab.

Another Solution

From a different forum:

"Hi, I tried this, but it did not solve the problem for me. What I had to do in my case was delete a file that I had somehow added to my Active Directory. I went to Display Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web. There I noticed a weird image file. The only one I needed there was "My Current Home Page". I checked and deleted the weird image file. Then I went back to Performance Options (as mentioned in this article), rechecked the "use drop shadows for icon labels on the destop" checkbox, and shazam, my problem was fixed. Hope this helps others too. Regards, Somaiah."

This worked for me when nothing else would.

With all of the previously mentioned techniques taken into consideration first inluding tips from this link:

do this:

right click desktop>properties>Appearance tab> click effects>check the box "use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"> then select "ClearType" from the drop down. that should do it. - this tip is for windows XP.

Convert The Picture File
