If you do the normal clean install, it uses the already formatted c:-partition, but throws away all files on it (although there's a useful option to keep user data in stead of deleting them).
If you use DBAN first, the Windows XP setup must make a partition and format it. And it can't offer to keep your files.
The end result is the same. It's rather useless to use DBAN, in fact. But if you prefer nonetheless, go ahead.

Ok Then, forget my last post.
I want to use DBAN, just i need to know what to do afterward. Do i just insert the XP CD, turn the PC on and i can reinstall it ? is it that simple ?
That will get you XP but not a working machine.

Sound and more may not work as Microsoft doesn't supply drivers. Are you ready to install XP?

"since the last time I formatted", so I assumed he can do both that and everything that comes afterwards. But it's good to ask, of course.

No i'm not ready. I've only backed up my data, since i was waiting for some answers on this thread. Can i erase all partitions from the HD if i try to do a clean install (by sinerting the XP CD)?

If you decide to do it, I read in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348 it can be done during setup. But, of course, it can be done just as well earlier, in Windows XP, using Disk Management.
