reinstalling xp

I have a Dell Inspiron notebook that is totally infested and would like to start over.
I understand there is a key I can push during start-up that will completely wipe out and install the original operating system.
I used it quite a few months ago but now I dont know what I did.
does anyone know what i'm talking about?

On my Dell Inspiron 600m, the bios screen where the blue bar appears and you can press ctrl + F11 to get the Symantic System Recovery Tool.

Try that.

As R.Proffitt said, you can use CTRL+F11 at the Dell splash screen (just after powering on) to reload the Dell factory image from the recovery partition on the hard drive, assuming your system shipped with it and it is still there.

If you would prefer to do a clean install of the OS (wipe the drive then load Windows and drivers) you can do that using the Dell OS Reinstallation CD (or DVD if your system has Vista). If you can list the model of Inspiron I'll be happy to post the full list of drivers and the order they should be installed in.

If you have any other questions about the system I'll be happy to answer them.

dell inspiron 700m

I just installed 2gb of ram to spead things up. Now I want to do a clean install of xp pro. Should I do ctrl f11? Or look for an os disk sent from dell? I'm not sure it came with one? Is there a difference? Also is there any real order to install drivers?
