I downloaded a FREE screen saver now I can not get rid of it

I am running Windows XP well against my own judgement my daughter downloaded a free screen saver from the site www.risoftsystems.com -- Well now my Control Panel is gone I can not locate it to ADD and REMOVE PROGRAMS


Any ideas

Go to Start > Run > type "Control" w/o the quotes > click OK, should open the Control Panel.


I would first try System Restore. Simply uninstalling the program may not necessarily bring back the Control Panel. If System Restore works, I would then delete the restore points to ensure that the screen saver does not later get restored. Right click on My Computer > left click on System Restore tab > place a checkmark in the box beside "Turn off System Restore on all drives" > click Apply. Then to turn System Restore back on, remove the checkmark > click Apply > OK.

It probably wouldn't hurt to also run a good Anti-spyware program such as the AVG Anti-Spyware Free Edition. Remember to update it first. If it finds and removes anything, again delete any Restore points that have been created.

Hello!I was in trouble like you,and my control panel dissapeared in the same way!There are two options: --reinstal WINDOWS or --start-taskbar and start menu properties-start menu-select start menu instead classic start menu.Good luck!!
