Problem after reinstalling Win XP

Hello!

I have a 120GB hard drive with windows XP installed on it. It was working beautifully for 9 months.
Last week I had a problem booting the system so I reinstalled windows XP.
Now I am getting an error message saying "system file corrupt or missing" and the system refuses to start.

Is my data completely gone?

Did you format and do a clean install or a repair/upgrade?

That system file missing message when typed into google.com usually finds the answers. But there are a few variations so I'll have to settle for you trying this.

Usually it can be fixed without a reinstall or file loss.

Uhm i don't want to be mr. knowsall, but how can he go online, when his computer can't even boot up?
If he got a second computer he might go online and check on Google for the answer...

Best thing is.. make partitions, it's nice to have 120GB HDD, but leave it in 1 partition ask for losing all your data..

Make partitions, than reformat the C Drive, and the other drives..
Install windows XP.. and place your information like games, music, photo's, video's on D or E or ect ect ect... or even use a External HDD

I have learned my lesion when i lost my data... don't make that mistake twice...

Hope this is proof enough for you.

As to partitions saving data, that appears to urban legend. I have a few hundred cases this year and partitions didn't survive.
