Accidental delete registry value

Was looking for something in the registry (dde) to get rid of the "locate link browser" problem in Outlook.

I went to the area of the registry where the dde file had been listed before; it was not there (which was good), but I accidentally deleted the file before the dde file and now I cannot get links to open from Outlook into the internet.

Any suggestions? Can't believe this happened. And no, I didn't back up the registry, mainly 'cause I don't know how.

System Restore will do it. . .

Pick a date.

No one regularly backs up the registry anymore. XP does it every 24 machine hours and before updates and program installs. Just pick the closest day and restore.

try to back the things that happened with system restore
run(restore)
about every registry cleaner creates a restore point before acting.
or reinstall microsoft office.
the reinstall would fix every problem.

Outlook reinstall

Thought about that, but don't know how to save all the data. I did an Outlook search, but couldn't figure things out.

Will try to system restore.

Repairing outlook shouldnt delete your "data" - it will just fill in whats missing. Or, it should.

repair or reinstall? Don't know how to "repair" Outlook and the thought of reinstalling it sounded horrendous and like a lot of lost info.

Went ahead and restored the system to two days ago, and that took care of the problem.
