Help!!! My CMD field does not recognize commands anymore

Hello everybody....
I was doing some work on my pc... it has XP on it and everything works fine but when I go to my command window it no longer recognizes commands.
Ipconfig
Netstat
route print
Ping
Traceroute
and commands of that nature are not recognized as commands...I evcen downloaded Powershell and cant get basic commands to work. Any Ideas what the hell happened to my box?
