AOL causes system to freeze

Ijust loaded AT&T DSL after previously running AOL. I never uninstalled AOL and notice that system freezes while working in Word and Excel after awhile. I have to reboot to get it up and running. Could it be the AOL is still trying to run and causing this. I notice that each time system freezes that AOL was running and I did not start it. Also there are several anti virus running from Yahoo and AOL. Any clue why system freezes based on this information.

Uninstall your AOL software.

You should only have 1 antivirus running on computer to avoid conflicts.

of the iceberg. Add/Remove: Viewpoint, AOL Spyware, AOL Desktop, AOL Connectivity, AOL Toolbar, Real, (something)2learn. Further down under All Users is aol, and rest of thr players plus in program files, Common Files is NullSoft, AOL, RealPlayer, QuickTime, WebCoach may be there - aolxtras, itunes, My Music, Gtek, Pure Networks, Port Magic search for all of these plus neptune, cerebus, winamp, (located under ampx).
Once you got those out use the following: http://www.ccleaner.com and on http://www.majorgeeks.com, search for EasyCleaner on the left. Boh will have Registry but one is listed as Issues. It may take 2-3 times to clean out the registry with ccleaner. Minimum with my chopping it down for me was 338 registry entries. You can expect to see more. Darrell 2 mos non-aol in six years.

Start up in safe mode http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070430215523AARiNP4

Then, go to "Start", type in "msconfig", press ok, and go to the Startup tab. Make note of any files checked which will load from the system folder. If they are in the programs folder and you don't think you'll need them, then uncheck them.

Feel free to post the file names of any you are unsure about.
