Windows XP forum: How many versions of .Net Framework do I need?

Though "need" is maybe a bit much. They should all be backwards compatible with one another, though I understand that the .NET Framework 3.0 installs 2.0 anyway if you don't have it. Never tested it, so can't say for sure if it's true, just that it came from a reasonably reliable source.

I read posts daily here,great place.If you got the media center edition 2005 with roll up 2 as I have,then none of the media center functions will work. The 1.1 framework is part of the system and has to be there in my case anyway because I like to use media center sometimes.
I read this post and made the mistake of uninstalling net 1.1 and the updates.Everything worked fine until I tried to open the media center to record something and it said error no net framework media center will not work.I had the 2.0 installed and the updates,it came out on the express updates automatically.So unless you could go into the 2.0 net and configure it to work with the media center,you have to have 1.1 net framework installed.I had to download it again and everything
is fine now.So becareful Mark
