Windows XP Home & Pro SP2 Activator

Does anybody know what Windows XP Home & Pro SP2 Activator is, I didn't know that you had to activate SP2.

Microsoft decided to protect it's OS in XP and one step is to require activation.

How deep do you need to discuss this?

I don't understand what SP2 has to do with activating windows. Do I have to activate when I download SP2.

Even without SP2 one has to activate.

Activation appeared in XP even before SP1. However you may be getting confused about the copy protections in XP.

1. Activation. All versions require this.

2. WGA (see this link -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Genuine_Advantage

WGA appeared later since some cracked activation and this extra layer is required to gain access to product updates.

-> Let me bottom line this. If you have a shady or pirated version of Windows you will have trouble.

To me, activation is a non-issue. If activation fails we call and get it fixed. WGA is painful but sadly necessary.
