Especially if it is on a network. MSN Messenger has been known to be vulnerable and same goes for any Instant Messenging Service. People make mistakes even with email, like the guy who wrote intimate things to his girl-friend and then hit Reply to All. Darrell L.

Ok thanks for your help. I thoroughly understand every comment made here, but I was attempting to prompt more information from more people. For instance, someone else might know about some encrytion tool that you don't or something; i don't give up so easily.

Furthermore, as far as I know, talking to someone via a webcam isn't something that shouldn't be done, so i think i'm ok there. Thanks for your concern.

The issue is just that I don't want other people watching me in my own home.... is that all that strange? Does that mean I shouldn't be sitting in my own home, just because I don't want others too see??

I can understand the desire for privacy, but you need to understand that using a webcam is essentially inviting someone to invade that privacy. I also think we all know there's something more to this than simple privacy concerns, but we're not asking about the specifics of what you're doing, just commenting that your paranoia level suggests you might want to rethink whatever it is you're doing.

Webcams are inherently insecure, that's just the nature of the beast. Learn a lesson from the entertainment industry. All the different copy protection methods they've devised have been broken, and usually within days of public release. There is no way around this, end of story. With a webcam, if one person can see it, anyone could potentially see it. They would have to know you're broadcasting and then care enough to eavesdrop, but it's possible, and there's no way around it. So whatever it is you're doing that has you all worked up, you might want to rethink. It's that, or accept that there's a chance someone will intercept the broadcast.
