I have Sidekick 98, and it has been the main reason I keep my laptop which runs Windows ME. After periodically trying to find a solution to the problem, I have given up all hope. The export feature does seem to work well (as does everything in Sidekick), so I am transfering everything to an Excel spreadsheet via export and going to import it into another db system. The notes "field" from the address book which can record your calls etc does NOT export with the notecard records so I have to cut and paste that data into an additional column in the spreadsheet. Since OpenOffice is basically free a gives provides a reliable Excel spreadsheet reader/writer, you don't have to invest much money, just time, to get your data somewhere safe, i.e. into a file format likely to be supported into the foreseeable future. Would recommend that you do basically the same.
Please post if you find a solution to running Sidekick under XP. I think Sidekick is one of the most elegant programs ever developed.
