I have Zone Alarm Security installed onto my home computer,

tonight after disabling windows automatic update, an alert show "sysocmgr.exe" asking permission to operate. I deny it. This is the first time I have ever had this alert. Is this an important session that I should allowed to run?

I am running windows xp home edition. The reason why I disable windows automatic update, because I did not want to install the latest update from windows.

I also have some knowledge about computers, not an expert by any means.

Why turn off Automatic Updates?

You could, instead, configure AU to notify you when updates are available, then when you get a message, goto the Windows Update page and hide any particular update you don't want to install.
