XP doesn't recognize my USB Bluetooth adapter

In installing the software for my Kensington Bluetooth adapter, when the box says to plug in the adapter, I get a message that says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. Then I'm told to try reconnecting it and then replace it if that doesn't work. I have put the dongle in several usb ports, but still get the error message. I have XP with SP2. What should I do? Thanks.

If this was my machine I might check BIOS settings (enable USB), update the motherboard drivers, but your post is too thin on details for me to write this would help. I might check the Kensington web site for newer drivers as well.

My other USB devices are working, so I assume USB is enabled in the BIOS. I could find no drivers available at Kensington's website. I will consider updating my motherboard drivers if Kensington cannot help me. They are closed for the weekend, so I will have to wait until Tuesday to talk with them. I hope I can figure out the problem before then.
