when saving computer chooses a file that I cannot find later

Inadvertantly, when choosing save, I did not notice the file it was being saved to until too late, now I cannot find the file folder.
I am not sure it is not a temporary internet file or other type of file
computer names it like ITAPOX4F
I am running windows XP
I would appreciate any help you can give me, it would be good to send my files to a place I can find them and eliminate files I have been unable to find.

'My Recent Documents' from the right-hand panel of the start window. The page you saved may be stored there.

What type of file.....

..did you create ? A text file, images...what ? Did it contain any special or unique word of phrase ? When was it saved ? Put the known parameters to Start>Search...

The default location for saving a file to is ''My Documents'', usually can be found at the desktop. Try looking in there first.
