Windows XP forum: matshita dvd-rom SR-8176

matshita dvd-rom SR-8176

I recently upgraded a Panasonic toughbook CF-48 from Win2000NT Pro to WinXP Pro Version 2002 Servicepack 2

The dvd/cdrom drive is a matshita dvd-rom SR-8176 .
Since the upgrade I've not been able to play audio cd's or view DVD's. The model is not on Microsoft's HCL. Is there a way to fix this issue? An update of some type?

Couple of things

First, there's Windows NT AND Windows 2000, but no Windows2000NT. Windows 2000 was the successor to Windows NT, just like XP is the successor to Windows 2000.

That aside, you give no details as to how you're trying to view these DVDs or anything else. The fact that the drive isn't listed on the HCL should make no difference at all.

Not likely a HCL issue but missing...

Missing machine drivers and a DVD player (software). XP does not play DVDs as supplied from Microsoft and you may have to add drivers from the laptop maker for other issues.
