Windows XP forum: .exe opening with wrong program

I've been thinking about this and have no answers really,so I thought I would chip in anyway, to see if we could get this moving.

Although you haven't given any specs, I notice you have posted elsewhere, and you had a Compaq, but now have an HP.

I'm not sure why cardfile.exe doesn't work with your new XP OS but worked with your previous XP OS.

I don't use Outlook so I don't know, but doesn't your new computer Outlook have cardfile on it already? If so, is there any way you can export the data on your old cardfile to file and then copy that file over to the new computer and import it to Outlook?

The short way:
Right click Card file ->
Float mouse over "Open With" and make selection

Or....

Under tools in Windows Explorer open Folder Options

Open tab View,
uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Open tab File Types

Look for File extention of card file,
select and click button Change
If Outlook is not listed in pre-view window then click button Browse. Outlook is in Program files.
