Hi guys, hoping someone can help me out: I've installed WinME on an older laptop -- a ThinkPad T41 -- in order to run some older games (Myst, etc.). Tons of driver issues, most importantly, audio. I've downloaded several drivers from the Lenovo site, but nothing seems to work. System is currently running "SoundMAX Integrated Audio" under "Sound, video and game controllers," but the yellow "!" sign is telling me all is not well (silently, of course). I get the same thing when I try to run an AC97 driver, which I think is what I was running when I had the machine on XP.
Can't really do adventure games without sound -- any thoughts?
FWIW: machine has a 1.7ghz P4 with 768mb ram on a 35gb HD

And see if they have drivers for this machine and Windows ME. If not, it's one of those times you may have to put up with the silence.

None of the Win 98/ME audio drivers I downloaded work.
Then you have to replace that part.

Did you look into USB Audio sticks? I pick those up for about 2 to 3 dollars and get about 50 when it works. So I always carry one in my kit.

I had no idea such an item existed. May take a look. Meanwhile, I'm going to try to reformat and install an old copy of Windows 98, which seems to have a much broader base of drivers and utilities.
Windows ME was a bit unloved.
