webcams in WinMe

I have a Hawking HC110 webcam. I downloaded a driver for it, & the INI file listed the default location as C:\Windows\System, so I put it in there. The problem is that my system still won't recognize it when I reboot, & the most I can do is 'Unknown Device' which does nothing when I try to upgrade. If it will help, there is also a file in \System
called vfwwdm.drv. Also, I don't really want to do any live functions
at this time, I simply want to take a picture.
It will be quite some time before I can upgrade my OS, so if that is my only option, then I guess I'll have to wait.
