Sound disappeared from POGO games somewhere in the middle of the Java 1.5.xx updates. I was on the Sun[Java] site and found a post about which Java to use with Windows 95 on POGO [Java 1.3.xx]. So I thought well if Java 1.5.xx messed it up maybe rolling it back to Java 1.4.xx [Windows 98/ME?] might fix it. It did, plus a few other problems, as well. Now during this, I uninstalled all Sun versions of Java, which has the side effect of locking Slimbrowser [think a tabbed, better version of Avant/Marathon] into using MSJAVA only! So on the Avant site I found a link that tells you which version of Java [if any] you are using. "Java Tester - How to tell what version of Java you are using." http://www.javatester.org/version.html as well as how to remove MS JAVA itself. The easy way is to download and run the uninstaller [you have to run it twice, the first time unpacks it, then from the directory you unpacked it to, to remove the MS Java. So the in the end the only Java I have on my system is Sun Java 1.4.xx and I have sound in my POGO games and they run great.
