Hi! thanks for the feedback..bit more info might help...MS WIndows Me...4.90.300...Intel(r)Celeron Processor..256.0MB RAM.. the problem may be Limewire was downloaded.. it replaced windows sounds and multimedia in control panel with java sun console...I have sound on my comp..except when trying to play anything in MediaPlayer or if I try to change sounds on any of my programs there is nothing..I have searched..tried system restore..cannot use the sound troubleshooter as there are no longer any properties..tried uninstalling all components of limewire...I am at a loss as to what to try next..any insight on this.Thanks!!

It seems to ba rite of passage or a lesson many learn first hand that some P2P software or what it downloads is not "uninstallable" or at times beyond repair. Now the P2P is out, you still need to read the other discussions and try what applies to your machine.

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

and restore your system to a previously working state.

When I click on system restore the page is blank also help page is blank,and also to my control panel add remove is blank.

lost add and restore icon in control panel.

i have lost the icon for add and remove hardware in the control panel,
the add hardware wizard still works though.also i have lost in, internet explorer history by day column, days appear but when i click on the days, no history of sites visited on that particular day drops down.
i am on windows xp. i have a mesh matrix fireblade cax computer opperating a AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ (2412 MHz).is this enough information for your diagnosis please?.hope you can help me solve these problems.do you send me a e mail or do i have to log on to you forum q/answers forum?.
