Droid X sync software

I've not installed syncing softward, in fact I'm not aware that there is functional software that will sync my Droid X with my Outlook, calendar, and tasks on my laptop. I'd be more than glad to install functional software. What's it called? Where do I access it? Does it work?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your email. There is no such thing. I have called Verizon and also searched at Motorola. Verizon said and Motorola confirmed that the only way to sync is to go through google and from my understanding, this is both labor intensive and not terribly effective. Plus, I don't want to work through Google; this means that I have to add all of my contacts to google and with this extra step, then sync with google.

I'm spolied from my experience3 with my blackberry--just connect to my laptop and press sync, and all of the components are synced. Why must the current sync be so difficult and ineffective? This is 2011!
