how much data is in a data plan

it only becomes a concern now with the possibility of a verizon tiered plan. as i have an unlimited plan, there was no need to ask.

just how much data is in a given limited data plane. if the plan calls for say "2 gb of data per month", how much is that 2gb? if the data involves email, then i think i can guess that....a simple text would be x kilobytes or bits,,,sending an image would be like 20kb or something? but what does me going onto fandango for 10 minutes equal?
