Palm Treo 680 Charging problem

I just got a Treo 680 today (brand new). The first thing I did was charge it up until the light turned green. But the moment I turned on the phone I get an extremely low battery warning. The battery icon shows all white.

Plug it back in and the charging indicator is again red. A few minutes later it turns green, but when I unplug it . . . again with the warning.

Plug it back in, indicator is red. And so on and so on.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Is the unit still charging even though the indicator is green? How long dies it take to fully charge the unit?

Bad charger? Bad battery?

It's a new device. You should toss it back and let them fix it. The sooner the better. I try to get it back in less than 24 hours to make the point it was a DOA.

Sometimes that's the issue with first adopters. You run a slight risk of getting that burning feeling.

I'm sorry I don't have a good answer for you except "warranty." Thinking over it the only item that comes to mind is to plug and unplug whatever charger and battery you have a few times to see if contacts need a little break in. There is also a HARD RESET you could try but your issue doesn't sound like it would help. But there's always hope. Here's the procedure.

http://mytreo.net/archives/2006/11/in-depth-review-of-treo-680.html notes the new soft reset as well as the hard reset. I see the battery and I would be trying that scrub there.

problem charging treo 680

Well guys... Seems like we're stuck with this. My lovely treo 680 is not accepting charges from the power cord anymore. I can only charge via USB. That sucks. I changed the cord but nothing. Its funny because when I plug it, the red light comes on (showing that it is charging) and the indicator on the screen shows that is charging...
Does anyone have a solution???
Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase?

We are starting to see the batteries wear out. But what do you expect from such old gear? Try a new battery.
