topo software

I'm being hasseld by my dad on a topic that i have no interest for, so i need all your help. he has asus mypal636, and wants to get a topomap software, and from what i looked up, the two decent ones are mapsend 3d and usa topo. Does anyone have any expirience with either of the software titles, and which one if any other would you recommend for a purchase, or download.

My only advice is to see if they offer a demo. TOPO software could mean GPS to some with TOPO MAPS. I will share that for PDA size devices, when I think of GPS I always look at Garmin.

Topo Take II

That's an open ended question. What level of topo does he want? USGS quad maps on the PDA? What's he going to do with it?

If he has National Geographic Topo he can buy a PDA version that lets him put Quad map topo's on the PDA.

Other sources of topo for the PDA include Backcountry Navigator which I like because it lets me work with a bunch of waypoints.

I don't like NG topo because it only lets you work with one waypoint on your PDA though there is a workaround for that.

Maptech makes Pocket Navigator. Don't have any experience with that. I could swear that they used to have a version called "Outdoor Navigator" that I tried but it was complete junk for my purposes.

OziExplorer is something peole like. No experience wiht it.

Most of these are USGS quad based solutions for the pocket PC. Of them I like Backcountry the best. PDA's have limitations and each maping solution solves the problem differently.
