You could try some Voice Recognition software, but I've found the error rate to be less than reliable.

Just look at voice recognition software that comes with a microphone and try such. The problem is simply that people's expectations exceed the technology. But if the machine can keep up, then you may have a starting point to edit it to what you wanted.

As to the dictaphone, that's not a bad idea. Dictaphones are still available plus there are PC based ones. In fact, Windows Media Player 9 has a slow play mode that can be useful for transcription.
