missing keyboard in xp

Hi, i have been running xp without problem, then I diconnected the keybooard while the computer was running. I then tried to reconnect but the keyboard has dissappeared from device manager profile.
If i try to get to it through printer and other devices the entry is blank with no properties to view.

help have I blown the connection port.

thanks for the reply, but sadly it does not work, at set up all the lights flash on and off but then nothing.

Try another keyboard.

And check in the cable end that you didn't bend a pin over.

If you are lucky, an USB keyboard might avoid the cost of a new motherboard if the replacement keyboard doesn't work.

In closing I read your first post and still couldn't clearly tell if the keyboard was dead or not at the end of the post. The only clear item was that the device manager didn't show it.
