There are very, very few sites that use Shockwave. There are (much) more sites that use Flash, although that's becoming less popular nowaday, due to security, performance and video issues. That performance is why you won't find it on iDevices from Apple (uses too much power).
And alas, the only players I know of are from Adobe, although Chrome has one integrated, so supported by Google.
Things you didn't tell:
- what browser you use
- why you need a Shockwave replacement and not Shockwanve
- an example of a site that needs it, so we can see if it works with those of us that have Shockwave installed
