Is there a software for network control?

Hey all,

I'm trying to find (or create if worst comes to worst) a program that will allow me to run a program on all computers on our network (Anti-Mal, Defrag, Etc.) from the master console.

Does anyone know of anything that would do this? I've been playing with PSExec to no avail; not sure if it's them or me, haha.

I don't want to start yet another defrag discussion. But it's something that if you catch your IT staffer defragging, you know you need to upgrade your IT staffer.

But without context such as home or business I can't offer much. For home, why not VNC if your psexec and terminal remote (TELNET SERVER!) fails?

To a point I agree with you. When defrag hasn't been run for 5 years, however...I start to change my tune.
I'm not aiming to make waves but you're sounding a bit aloof there, mate. I'm just looking for some info, not down-the-nose comments.

It is for a business; would VNC be viable for a business set-up? (~13 computers). All but one are running XP, the lone one out is W7. I'm not sure what all info you need; I'm out of the store until Tuesday, but I can wade through then!

As to your question, VNC in my world something I've used for far too long to consider it new. Maybe I should call it "Venerable Network Controller"?

VNC is available on so many OSes that if you are asking me if it runs on 7 and XP, I'll stop here and wait for you to look into that.

Try Network Magic from Cisco

When I'm having network problems, I usually get Network Magic from Cisco to bail me out. When trying to make XP and Windows 7 cross communicate, I usually need it. They have a free trial version, but you have to search for it.
