Transfer files to new computer with small solid state drive

I usually use Windows Easy Transfer and an external hard drive to move my files from my old PC to my new PC, but I find that my new PC has the operating system (Windows 8) on a small 80GB drive with a second large 2.5TB drive available. Since my old computer had a single 1TB drive, Windows Easy Transfer (WET) does not allow any mapping to my new computer since the 80GB drive does not have sufficient space and the 2.5TB drive does not have the operating system installed on it.

Any suggestions? Other programs to use for the transfer via an external drive?

I didn't need other programs.

I used easy transfer for the settings and such then shared the folders I wanted on the network and copied those over later. Since the user files are in one folder, that was pretty easy.
