Syn Files with encryption

You may need to backup your computer files to avoid file loss that will happen when computer crashes down. But it should get your attention that protecting your backup items from unauthorized use is of vital importance.

Now I highly recommand Backup Cow, a auto--scheduled backup freeware with encryption feature.

Encryption is one of the most important features of Backup Cow. It allows you to encrypt all your folders and files for backup. You can encrypt backup items with a pre-set password. After that, none of the users can obtain encrypted files if they don't have the password.

Here are steps to encrypt backups:
• Click on "Backup-Add Backup Item- General", then tick "Encrypt backup files".
• Enter the password and password hint.

They have a user manual on their site. What did it tell you about the choice of target devices? Only USB-stick, external disk, or also CD/DVD, or also a share in your home network, or also to a webstorage?

What do you want to search on?
- Basic NTFS attributes like filename, creation date, file size, filetype?
- Extended attributes like artist of an mp3 or date picture taken of a jpg?
- Content like a word in a pdf or a MS Word document.

Makes a huge difference in tools.

Everything is a user-friendly search tool and I really appreciate the considerate FAQ in the website. However, it doesn't support searching file content. Sometimes, I need to search specific content. Any other recommendation? Thx.

For searching file content Windows comes with Windows Search.
Details depend on your OS (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8), so I can't tell more at the moment.
