Best Freeware Raw Data Recovery Tool

A WD Passport drive was knocked to the ground & now isn't displaying data on the drive.

It's showing up as a RAW drive & wants to format upon plugging in. I know not to format & am having trouble finding a recovery tool that I don't have to pay $50 for!!!

Please help!!!!
