How to block anonymous software installs from main installer

Like the title, I'm talking about bloatware that is included in installers. I want to block the "extra" crap that is checked for install by default. An example would be Avast. After Avast finishes its install and then restarts the PC, it has Google Chrome checked for install by default. This is not acceptable and I don't think this business practice is right. I'm the IT at work and have set Avast to do program updates automatically to help on the overhead maintenance of the PCs. I just found out that Avast was the cause of the Chrome install so no more auto updating the program.
In short, I'm looking for a way to block certain installers. Things to block would be Chrome, Ask toolbar (really all toolbars in general), and any other installers that I find I want to block. This would be great for work and I know it would great for my home PC. Anybody have any ideas?
