Computer Utility

Has anyone use doublemyspeed.com? on their page is has CNET....so do they recomment this utility?? Can't afford a new computer yet..so trying to get more speed.

I don't know what it does because my browser 'web site security' add-on WOT, (Web of Trust), warned me away from the web site. I won't post the web site here in it's clickable form in case others click it in error.

This is what WOT says, http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/doublemyspeed.com

Some extracts:

"Used for the distribution of "rogue" security or other such applications"

"Phishing Scam Website! -This site provides applications or services "Rogue" "

Whatever it offers my advice is to stay away. And that CNET logo? Is it clickable? If not they just copy/pasted the logo image onto their web site.

I took a chance

and overrode WOT's objection, but I also have the NoScript add-on installed so I made sure no scripts were allowed to run.

It's fraud. All the logos they have are just images and none of them are clickable.

The software they offer is meant to 'double your speed' but I wouldn't trust that any more than I would trust a drug user with my wallet.

Stay away.
