How to choose among Win Media Player; Real Player or others.

by Senior Old-timer - 11/20/04 4:24 AM

Am confused:

What should I consider when deciding what Player should I pick to be the default in my system. I enjoy good clear sound with lots of bass and treble. I also want to burn CDs and DVDs, and I have programs to do that, including NERO, but never used them to any magnitude. In the future I want to transfer my large collection of Long Play Records, Reel to Reel and Cassete Tapes, and Memory Cards, all with voice and music of State of the Arts at their time in history. I also enjoy free Internet Radio from USA and the rest of the world.

Am very undecided and need your input; Problems encountered by other members, etc.
When I associate the Windows Media Player to open my File Extensions, RealPlayer somehow reclaims them without even asking. Can I somehow prevent it? RealPlayer keeps placing files in my Hard Drive
(ie: .ram or .rmm Presentation Files identical, but with different file names) Should I delete all the RAM and RMM files from my system. How can I avoid this invasion of privacy?
I Would gratefully apreciate and need your comments.

I would like to pick the Best available current Player, but, without a premium cost.
