In band/out of band screen recorder

Hi guys,

I would like to create some training videos that will walk people through installing Vmware ESXi. These videos will include bios settings and installing from CD so much of the work will be performed 'out of band' meaning before the operating system has booted.

Every screen recorder I've looked at needs to be installed on the host system first first and run with the operating system (in band). Is there software out there can can do a straight capture of whatever the video card is putting out? I could use a windows 7 box to perform the capture, but the capture target would have no operating system installed.

Simpler solution...

Yes, that is possible, but a much simpler, and cheaper, solution is to install VMWare on a guest OS running within VMWare, VirtualBox, etc. that is installed on the host OS. Run the screen recorder on the host and target the VM window as the source area. Since you're documenting the tools of the trade, you might as well use them to do so, saving yourself time and money.
