PC utilities forum: use your pc to control your TV and other infrared devices

sorry if my title mislead you but im not explaining how to do this but instead wondering if someone else knows how to. im new to these forums, so sorry if im in the wrong category. its a 3 part question...i think? so bare with



1. if i buy an infrared usb dongle is there software on the webz that will allow me to control multiple infrared devices. (so far im thinking 3 tvs and 3 vga/dvi remote controlled hubs)




2. if there isn't any software on the webz, are there any 'pc tv remote' products in the shops, which contain for example, an infared dongle and sortware cd.




3.if none of the above exist. does anyone know about programming or any sites that will point me in the right direction?

i was thinking of writing my own simple program, maybe using c++/c/c#?? (or what ever :S)

was wondering about stuff like ,


1: the best programming language to use ?
2: the best complier for the language ?
3: any other software that would be useful ?

i'd rather write my own software, unless there is something out there that does the job very well and isn't ****,
